How We Calculate Pharmacy Compliance Scores
The VigilScale™ is a proprietary scoring system developed by MXVigil to measure the administrative transparency, operational stability, and regulatory compliance of pharmacies across the United States.
Our index is not a clinical rating of health outcomes; rather, it is a compliance-based trust signal designed to help users identify pharmacies with robust, up-to-date public records.
The VigilScale™ utilizes an additive algorithm that pulls from multiple federal and state data streams. To ensure accuracy, the final score is capped at 100.
Every pharmacy begins with a foundation of 40 points if they maintain an Active status within the National Provider Identifier (NPI) database.
Critical Failure: If an NPI is deactivated or flagged for fraud, the pharmacy is immediately assigned a Score of 0, regardless of other data.
We reward pharmacies that provide a valid State License Number in their public federal filings. This cross-verification ensures the entity is authorized to dispense medication in their specific jurisdiction.
Stability is a key indicator of trust. We calculate points based on the "Enumeration Date" (the date the pharmacy first registered):
Pharmacies that go beyond the minimum requirements by listing Secondary Taxonomies (additional specialties or service types) receive a bonus for data transparency. This indicates a well-maintained and detailed professional profile.
Certain pharmacy types carry higher administrative requirements. We award additional points for complex taxonomies, such as:
MXVigil is an independent data provider. The VigilScale™ is based solely on public administrative data and does not constitute a recommendation or a clinical evaluation of a pharmacy's medical services.
